A very warm welcome from all of the ‘Potters’.
We are a mixed year class of Reception and Year One children. Mrs Muir and Mrs Blance are our class teachers and Mrs Fricker is our teaching assistant. We currently have 19 super children in our team- known collectively as Potters!
You are welcome to visit us anytime; you will see that our classroom is bright and engaging and that we take learning outside at every opportunity. (Reception children participate in a weekly Welly Walk and these are always very popular. Mums, dads and grandparents are invited along too!) We always have lots of challenging learning activities to help us play, practise, extend and develop our knowledge and skills. The Year One children are aiming high; they have to do more independent thinking and focused work to meet their targets.
Each term we usually have a different theme so that our learning is fresh and fun! Parents receive a weekly email detailing key activities, this includes useful links to extend learning, for the coming week. Each term, parents and carers are invited into our classroom to reflect on their child’s learning journey and look at class displays.
We are VERY proud of our strong parent partnership and we encourage all parents to take an active part in their child’s learning. Each week, Reception children bring home reading books and a home school writing book to share. At the end of the week they also take home a ‘Celebration book’ so that everyone can reflect on learning experiences from the week. We encourage parents to add any comments that they feel they would like to make. The Year One children are expected to read at home on a daily basis and also have weekly spelling tasks to complete.
We like to share and celebrate special experiences at home too. So, if your child does do something special we encourage you to complete one of our ‘WOW’ sheets and send it into school. We LOVE sharing children’s successes, big or small.
